The Katie Moody Heart of Lifecare Foundation
Mission and Purpose
The Katie Moody Heart of Lifecare Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for terminally ill and homebound patients and their families by directing donated funds to provide care, special wishes and community eduction of hospice services. 100% of funds received are used to help provide end-of-life in-home hospice care and special wishes and needs.
History

Katie Moody, co-founder of Lifecare Oklahoma Home Health, Hospice, and Personal Services, passed from this life October 15, 2009, after an extended illness. Katie was a person of integrity and humor, who touched deeply the lives of everyone she knew. She was a leader in establishing the values of quality, superior service, and commitment to ethical provision of care which are the cornerstones of Lifecare today. Katie was an integral part of developing the company’s Hospice program and an advocate for finding ways to help people in need and connect them with necessary healthcare resources. The Katie Moody Heart of Lifecare Foundation was established as a way to honor and continue the life's work of our partner, colleague and friend.
Improving Quality of Life
As part of its mission, the Foundation uses funds to meet patient needs not covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance provider. These needs may include things like a portable heater or air conditioner, denture repair, groceries, wheelchair ramp or bath rail. Many of these items are necessary to ensure comfort for patients facing end-of-life challenges.
Special Wishes
Sometimes a homebound or terminally ill patient has an unfilled wish, dream or desire. This may be reuniting with a family member, a special meal, visit to a favorite place, or movie outing. The Katie Moody Heart of Lifecare Foundation works to make these wishes come to life by way of donations received.
Education
The Foundation allocates some funds to create awareness and promote better understanding of hospice care in the community. Speaking engagements, education meetings and special events are available to community organizations.
